U.S. President Joe Biden arrives in Israel at start of Mideast visit

U.S. President Joe Biden arrived at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport on Wednesday, as part of the first Middle East visit of his presidency.

U.S. President Joe Biden arrived at Ben Gurion airport and will attend a welcome ceremony at the airport. President Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and President Isaac Herzog are expected to give addresses during the welcome ceremony.

The US will deepen Israel’s integration into the Middle East, President Joe Biden said after landing in the Jewish state, which is eyeing closer ties with Saudi Arabia.

President Joe Biden arrived Wednesday in Israel, part of a broader Middle East visit with stops in the West Bank and Saudi Arabia. He will push Israel’s deeper integration into the region, urge Gulf countries to pump more oil to alleviate the global energy crisis and offer assurances that the U.S. is not deprioritizing the region, despite its focus on the war in Ukraine and strategic competition with China.
