What to do when money is transferred to the wrong account?
According to the guidelines of RBI, if your money has been transferred to another account by mistake, then first complain about it on the bank and RBI website bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in.
In this case, the cyber expert says that the account in which you have sent money by mistake, give the complete details of the account to the customer support of the UPI app as well as to the bank.
In such a situation, if the person who has received the money has not withdrawn it, then you can get that fund reverted. However, if the person in front has withdrawn the money, then you will have to lodge your complaint with RBI and NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India).
Complain on NPCI website:
While paying with Paytm (Paytm), Google Pay (GPay) or PhonePe (PhonePe), if by mistake money is transferred to some other account, first of all go to the support section of the app and file a complaint.
After giving this information to your bank, give details about the account in which the money has been transferred by mistake.
After this, complain about this by calling the helpline number of the bank or even through netbanking.
– Keep in mind that keep the details of money transfer message and transaction ID etc. with you. This will be needed as a reference to claim.
– Register a complaint on the NPCI website if money is transferred to the wrong account through UPI. For this you have to go to Dispute Redressal Mechanism. After going there, in the transaction tab, by going to expand, the necessary details related to the transaction will have to be filled.
Money transferred to wrong account from BHIM app will be difficult:
If you have mistakenly transferred money to another account through BHIM app, then its recovery is very difficult. So be very careful while sending money through BHIM app. Double check the details of the account in which the money is to be transferred.
