António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, has welcomed Iran’s decision to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for all commercial vessels during the ongoing ceasefire period.
Calling the move “a step in the right direction,” Guterres emphasized that the UN’s position remains firm on ensuring the full restoration of international navigational rights and freedoms in the vital maritime corridor. He stressed that these rights must be respected by all parties involved.

He highlighted that ongoing dialogue efforts are currently being facilitated by Pakistan, aiming to ease tensions in the region.
