West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the BJP, accusing the Centre of repeatedly neglecting Bengal while making promises only during election season. In a social media post, Banerjee alleged that funds rightfully owed to the state were being withheld, calling it a “deliberate betrayal” of the people of Bengal.
She said leaders in Delhi have long treated Bengal as an afterthought, using the state for electoral gains while failing to deliver on commitments once elections are over. The Chief Minister asserted that the people of Bengal have recognized this pattern and will reject what she described as politics of exploitation.
Mamara Banerjee also framed the election as a battle to protect Bengal’s identity, culture and dignity, arguing that “outsiders” cannot understand the state’s history, social fabric and traditions. Contrasting what she called the BJP’s politics of division with TMC’s politics of development, she appealed to voters across communities, faiths and languages to support the All India Trinamool Congress.
Calling the election a defining moment for the state, Banerjee said the people must unite to safeguard Bengal’s heritage, rights and democratic voice.
