Amit Shah Warns Against Voter Intimidation in Hooghly, Says ‘Touch Any Voter and You’ll End Up in Bay of Bengal’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday issued a sharp warning against alleged voter intimidation while addressing a public gathering in Balagarh, Hooghly, in West Bengal.

Referring to alleged threats by supporters of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Shah claimed opposition workers had previously been prevented from voting and declared that any attempt to intimidate voters during the ongoing election would face strong consequences.

In a strongly worded remark, the Home Minister said those who touch any voter would “find themselves in the Bay of Bengal,” escalating the political rhetoric amid the high-stakes electoral battle in the state. His comments come as campaigning intensifies and voter security remains a key focus in the West Bengal elections.

The statement is expected to sharpen the political contest further, with law and order, voter rights, and allegations of intimidation emerging as major campaign themes.
