Rahul Gandhi Alleges ‘Election Theft’ in West Bengal & Assam; Backs Mamata Banerjee’s Claims

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has stirred a fresh political controversy by alleging that recent election outcomes in West Bengal and Assam were manipulated.

Taking to social media, Gandhi claimed that the elections were “stolen” and pointed to what he described as a recurring pattern across multiple states. He cited past political developments in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as examples of what he termed a “playbook.”

Echoing similar concerns, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that more than 100 seats in the state were unfairly taken away. The statements have intensified the political war of words between opposition parties and the ruling BJP.

The allegations also raise questions about the role of the Election Commission of India, which has consistently maintained that elections are conducted in a free and fair manner under strict protocols, including EVM usage, VVPAT verification, and multi-layered monitoring.

The BJP has not officially responded to these latest remarks at the time of publication. Historically, the party has rejected similar allegations, asserting that electoral outcomes reflect the will of the people.

As of now, these claims remain political allegations, with no official confirmation or judicial ruling supporting assertions of large-scale electoral manipulation.
