West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday shared details of his first day in office at Nabanna, announcing a series of major administrative and policy decisions aimed at what he described as the beginning of “Asol Poribortan” in the state.

In a detailed social media post, the Chief Minister said his government had “transformed promises into action” by taking six landmark decisions during the first Cabinet meeting.
Key Decisions Announced by the West Bengal Government
1. Ayushman Bharat Implementation
The state government announced the implementation of the Centre’s flagship healthcare scheme, Ayushman Bharat, enabling residents of West Bengal to receive benefits under the programme.
2. Border Security and Fencing
The Cabinet approved the immediate transfer of land to the Border Security Force for border fencing works, with instructions to complete the process within 45 days.
3. Relief for Government Job Aspirants
Fulfilling an election promise, the government increased the upper age limit for state government job applicants by five years, citing the loss of opportunities during the previous administration.
4. Implementation of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
The government officially implemented the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in West Bengal and also approved measures for conducting the Census process.
5. Support for Families of ‘Democracy Martyrs’
The Chief Minister announced steps for the welfare and support of 321 families who allegedly lost loved ones during political violence in the state.
6. Removal of Obstacles to Central Schemes
The Cabinet also decided to facilitate smoother implementation of Central Government welfare schemes, including PM Vishwakarma, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and PM Ujjwala Yojana.
The Chief Minister further stated that portfolios had been allocated to ministers including Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Nisith Pramanik, Ashok Kirtania, and Khudiram Tudu.
Calling his administration a government “Of the People, By the People, For the People,” Adhikari claimed the new government would function differently from the previous regime and asserted that a new era of governance had begun in West Bengal.
