West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday asserted that potato farmers and agricultural workers in the state will not face any difficulties at inter-state borders, while also reiterating his government’s commitment to cracking down on corruption.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said the newly formed government has come to power with “many expectations” and will adopt a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption across institutions.
Adhikari further stated that the state cabinet may take key decisions in its upcoming meeting regarding cases of “institutional corruption.” He revealed that the government has decided to grant sanctions to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with multiple alleged scams.
The cases reportedly include teacher recruitment irregularities, municipal recruitment scams, and cooperative sector corruption cases. According to the Chief Minister, investigations have indicated the involvement of certain government officers in these matters.
The announcement signals a major administrative push by the West Bengal government to strengthen transparency and accountability while ensuring that agricultural trade and interstate movement remain uninterrupted for farmers and workers.
