Union Home Minister Amit Shah & J.P Nadda BJP President arrived in Kolkata today with several
programs on their list, including an assessment of the party’s preparedness for the upcoming Lok
Sabha elections.

VISIT TO GURUDWARA BARA SINGH SANGAT AND KALIGHAT MANDIR

Commencing their tour, they visited Gurudwara Bara Sikh Sangat in Barabazar (Central Kolkata) and the
Kalighat temple in South Kolkata that is situated a short distance away from Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee’s residence.
A senior state BJP leader said, “They offered prayers at the Gurudwara on Veer Bal Diwas followed by
prayers at Kalighat temple. In the afternoon, they will be holding a series of organisational meetings
before leaving for New Delhi in the evening. They will take stock of the organisational strength and our
organisational preparedness”.

TAKING STOCK OF PARTY’S PREPAREDNESS FOR LOK SABHA POLLS IN 2024

Amit Shah & J.P Nadda visit to the city dwells on gauging the organisational landscape in West Bengal in view
of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2024. Both leaders are scheduled to preside over a series of
organisational meetings. There are no plans to address public events or meetings.
Later in the evening, the leaders are expected to participate in a closed-door programme at the National
Library before departing for New Delhi, as per reports. Previously, Amit Shah had set a target of winning more than 35 Lok Sabha seats from West Bengal. In the last Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, the BJP secured 18 of the 42 parliamentary constituencies in the state.

Amit Shah & J.P Nadda are scheduled to depart for New Delhi in the evening after completing their meetings.
The ruling TMC downplayed the impact of today’s visit. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “The visit
won’t have any impact. They will come and go.”
