Amit Shah Targets Mamata Banerjee in Bankura Rally, Vows to Dismantle ‘Syndicate Raj’ in Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a blistering attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing a public rally in Bankura, accusing the state government of running a “syndicate raj” that harms ordinary citizens. In a strongly worded speech, Shah alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has institutionalized corruption through a network of syndicates. “We will completely dismantle Mamata's syndicate across the entirety of Bengal. This syndicate has become an instrument of governance… one that serves only to suck the very lifeblood out of the people of Bengal,” he said. He further intensified his remarks, asserting that once a BJP government is formed in the state, strict action would be taken against those involved. “Once you oust Mamata and establish a BJP government, we will take it upon ourselves to set this syndicate straight—even if it means hanging them upside down,” Shah declared, drawing loud reactions from the crowd. Shifting focus to agrarian issues, the Home Minister highlighted the plight of potato farmers in the state. He claimed that farmers are being severely underpaid, receiving as little as Rs 2 per kilogram for produce that should ideally fetch over Rs 20 per kilogram in the market. Blaming state policies, Shah said that restrictions on interstate trade are hurting farmers. “This is solely due to Mamata Didi's arrogance—her refusal to allow our potatoes to be sent to neighbouring states like Jharkhand and Odisha,” he stated. He promised that a BJP-led government would immediately open up interstate trade for agricultural produce. “The moment a BJP Chief Minister takes office, Bengal's potatoes will be sent to Odisha, Jharkhand, and across the entire nation,” Shah added. The rally in Bankura marks another step in BJP’s aggressive campaign strategy in West Bengal, focusing on governance issues, corruption allegations, and farmer distress as key electoral themes.
