Asian Games 2026: Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru Claims Compound Archery Bronze for India
Indian archer Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru secured the bronze medal in the Men’s Individual Compound Archery event at the 2026 Asian Games, defeating Vietnam’s Cong Duc Dang 149-144 in a commanding bronze-medal playoff.
The 20-year-old produced a remarkable response after narrowly missing out on a place in the final. Ganesh lost his semifinal against South Korea’s Kim Jongho, going down 144-148.
However, he bounced back strongly in the bronze-medal contest, delivering an almost flawless performance with 14 scores of 10 from 15 arrows to secure another podium finish for India at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square.
Kim Jongho went on to win the individual compound gold, defeating Chinese Taipei’s Chang Cheng-Wei 149-145 in the final.
Ganesh’s individual bronze also adds to his impressive medal collection at Aichi-Nagoya 2026. Just a day earlier, he had played a key role in India’s gold-medal-winning men’s compound team alongside Sahil Jadhav and Kushal Dalal.
