US President Donald Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping during a high-profile bilateral meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, describing their ties as one of the strongest relationships between leaders of the two nations.

Addressing Xi Jinping during the summit, Trump said, “You and I have known each other for a long time. In fact, the longest relationship of our two countries that any president and president has had. To me, that is an honour.”

The US President highlighted the long-standing engagement between Washington and Beijing and emphasized their ability to resolve differences through dialogue.

“We have had a fantastic relationship. We have gotten along well, and when there were difficulties, we worked them out,” Trump remarked.
Trump also praised Xi Jinping’s leadership and expressed optimism about the future of US-China relations.
“We are going to have a fantastic future together. I have such respect for China and for the job you have done. You are a great leader, and I say that to everybody,” he said.
Calling the summit historic, Trump added, “This may be the biggest summit ever. They can never remember anything like it. In the United States, people are not talking about anything else.”
The US President concluded by reaffirming his personal rapport with Xi Jinping and expressing confidence about stronger bilateral ties ahead.
