Fadnavis Slams Opposition Over BRICS Summit Reaction
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly criticised the Opposition’s reaction to the BRICS Summit, accusing some leaders of attempting to downplay India’s diplomatic achievements.
Reacting to criticism surrounding the summit, Fadnavis said that people with a “narrow mindset” may feel aggrieved even when their own country achieves success.
He highlighted the unanimous adoption of the New Delhi Declaration as one of the summit’s biggest achievements. According to Fadnavis, the declaration, signed by China, Russia and other participating nations, explicitly condemned terrorism and received support from the Global South.
Fadnavis described the development as a major diplomatic and strategic victory for India, arguing that the consensus demonstrated India’s growing influence on the global stage.
He also criticised attempts to shift attention toward what he called “trivial issues”, including discussions about the food served at the summit and the cultural programme.
“I consider this to be a very narrow and flawed mindset,” Fadnavis said, asserting that India’s diplomatic achievements at the summit should receive greater attention.
