Ahead of the crucial second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a high-energy political rally, asserting that the first phase of polling had already delivered a strong message against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
He claimed that the momentum would continue in the next phase, paving the way for a decisive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Emphasizing Bengal’s legacy and potential, Modi said the state has all the resources and talent needed to reclaim its position as India’s leading state. Invoking Subhas Chandra Bose, he recalled the iconic call for sacrifice and urged voters to now “give one vote” to bring political change.
The Prime Minister accused the TMC government of fostering what he described as “jungle raj,” alleging widespread corruption, lawlessness, and insecurity—particularly for women. He highlighted incidents in Sandeshkhali, claiming injustice against women and accusing the state government of shielding perpetrators.
Modi also raised concerns over unemployment, alleged irregularities in recruitment exams, and what he termed as “infiltration” issues, promising strict action if voted to power.
Positioning women at the center of BJP’s agenda, Modi announced several welfare commitments, including:
Free healthcare up to ₹5 lakh
Medicines at 80% discount via Jan Aushadhi centres
Financial assistance for daughters’ education and pregnancy support
₹36,000 annual financial support for women
33% reservation for women in government jobs
He said the BJP government would ensure dignity, safety, and economic empowerment for women across Bengal.
Highlighting central government initiatives, Modi noted:
Doubling of MSP for jute farmers
Increased procurement and promotion of jute packaging
Push against single-use plastic to boost Bengal’s jute industry
He accused TMC-linked syndicates of obstructing industrial growth and pledged to revive economic activity in the state.
The Prime Minister outlined a series of development measures, including:
Free ration support saving families up to ₹10,000 annually
₹1.5 lakh assistance for building pucca houses
Clean tap water supply to households
Solar panel subsidies up to ₹80,000
He emphasized that a “double-engine government” would accelerate development and welfare delivery.
From Bangaon, Modi issued a strong warning against illegal infiltration, stating that those residing with fake documents must leave before the end of April or face strict action after the election results.
Framing the election as a turning point, Modi urged voters to back the BJP to “free Bengal” from what he described as misgovernance, corruption, and fear, positioning the second phase as critical to sealing electoral victory.
