India Wins Historic Sepaktakraw Quadrant Bronze at Asian Games
India has created history in Sepaktakraw at the Asian Games, securing its first-ever medal in the Quadrant discipline. The Indian Men’s Quadrant team produced a determined performance to claim the Bronze Medal after a hard-fought semifinal against hosts Japan.
The Indian quartet of Malemnganba Singh Sorokhaibam, Ram Kumar Sharma, Bobby Kumar and Akash Yumnam represented the country in the historic campaign.
India faced Japan in the semifinal and, despite a strong challenge against the host nation, finished with the bronze medal. Under Asian Games Sepaktakraw regulations, both losing semifinalists are awarded bronze medals.

Thailand went on to defeat Japan in the final to secure the gold medal, while Japan took silver.
Historic First for India in Quadrant
The bronze medal represents India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the Quadrant event of Sepaktakraw. It also takes India’s overall Asian Games medal tally in Sepaktakraw to three.
The achievement adds another significant milestone to India’s growing presence in the sport. Sepaktakraw has particularly strong grassroots roots in Manipur and the wider Northeastern region, which have played an important role in developing Indian talent in the discipline.
The performance of Malemnganba Singh Sorokhaibam, Ram Kumar Sharma, Bobby Kumar and Akash Yumnam provides another landmark moment for Indian Sepaktakraw and underlines the sport's expanding contribution to India's success on the continental stage.
