Lalremsiami emerged as the match-winner, scoring the decisive goal in the 10th minute as India held on to secure a memorable triumph against World No. 4 China.
The victory marks India’s second Asian Games women’s hockey gold medal, following the team’s previous title in 1982.
India’s disciplined performance in the final ensured that Lalremsiami’s early strike proved enough to settle the contest. Despite China’s efforts to find an equaliser, the Indian defence maintained its composure to preserve the clean sheet and complete a landmark campaign.
