External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta, United States, on October 30 and 31, 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Wednesday. He will also participate in a Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and hold bilateral discussions with several counterparts on the sidelines.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced the itinerary during a media briefing in New Delhi.
Jaishankar to Join Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
Jaiswal said that alongside the Jaishankar G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting engagement, the External Affairs Minister would participate in a meeting of the Quad foreign ministers.
The Quad brings together India, the United States, Japan and Australia, with discussions generally focusing on Indo-Pacific cooperation, regional security, connectivity, technology and economic issues.
Jaishankar is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with foreign ministers and other counterparts attending the Atlanta gathering.
G20 Meeting Scheduled for October 30–31
The United States will host the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 30 and 31.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to host the meeting, where foreign ministers from major economies are expected to discuss economic and security challenges, including energy security, food security, supply chains and freedom of navigation.
Jaishankar to Travel to Antigua and Barbuda
After completing his engagements in Atlanta, Jaishankar will travel to St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, where he will lead the Indian delegation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
The CHOGM is scheduled from November 1 to 4, 2026.
CHOGM Theme Focuses on Partnerships and Investment
The theme for this year’s Commonwealth gathering is:
“Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth.”
According to the MEA, India looks forward to participating in discussions aimed at strengthening partnerships, investment and development cooperation among Commonwealth members.
Busy Diplomatic Schedule for India
The back-to-back meetings place India at the centre of several major multilateral engagements over the coming days.
The Jaishankar G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting visit will provide New Delhi with opportunities to engage major economic partners, while the Quad meeting will focus on cooperation among four key Indo-Pacific countries.
The subsequent CHOGM will broaden India’s diplomatic engagement to Commonwealth partners, with investment and economic partnership expected to remain central themes.
