French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday revealed that he held a crucial conversation with Mohammed bin Salman to discuss the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, focusing on ceasefire efforts and regional stability. In a statement shared on social media, Macron reiterated France’s strong support for an immediate and sustained ceasefire, stressing that it must be “fully respected and extended without delay” to Lebanon. The discussion also highlighted the urgent need to ensure free and secure navigation through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit chokepoint. Macron further noted that both leaders acknowledged the importance of ongoing diplomatic engagements, particularly as new discussions have opened in Islamabad. The two sides agreed to remain in close coordination to support de-escalation efforts, safeguard maritime routes, and work toward a long-term agreement ensuring peace and security in the region. The conversation comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions, with global leaders intensifying diplomatic outreach to prevent further escalation and stabilize critical international trade corridors.
