NDA Sweeps Karnataka Legislative Council Polls, Wins All Four Seats
Bengaluru: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has won all four seats in the Karnataka Legislative Council elections, according to a statement by JD(S) leader and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
Reacting to the results, Kumaraswamy congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and credited his development agenda, along with the efforts of BJP and JD(S) workers, for the alliance's performance.
HD Kumaraswamy Credits PM Modi and NDA Workers
Kumaraswamy said NDA candidates had secured victories by substantial margins in all four Legislative Council contests. He said educated graduates and teachers in Karnataka had voted in favour of the work undertaken by the Prime Minister.
He also acknowledged the contribution of BJP and JD(S) workers, saying their efforts had helped the alliance during the elections.
Kumaraswamy Criticises Karnataka Government
The JD(S) leader also criticised the state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He claimed the election results reflected voters' dissatisfaction with a government that, in his view, makes assurances without implementing them.
These remarks represented Kumaraswamy's political interpretation of the results and were not an independently established explanation of voter behaviour.
NDA Leader Looks Ahead to 2028
Kumaraswamy expressed confidence that the results would strengthen the NDA's position ahead of the 2028 Karnataka Assembly elections. He said the verdict indicated that voters could support the alliance in the future.
The outcome gives the NDA a political talking point as the BJP and JD(S) continue their alliance in Karnataka. However, the Legislative Council results alone do not establish how voters will respond in the next Assembly election.
