Dhami Says PM-KISAN Beneficiaries in Uttarakhand Have Doubled Since 2019
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Friday that the number of farmers benefiting from the PM-KISAN scheme in Uttarakhand has doubled over the past seven years, rising from around four lakh beneficiaries in 2019 to more than eight lakh now.
Speaking in Dehradun during the PM-KISAN Utsav Diwas programme, Dhami said the increase reflected what he described as growing trust among farmers in the state and central governments.
Official reporting from the previous PM-KISAN instalment also recorded more than eight lakh beneficiaries in Uttarakhand.
‘Not Merely a Statistic,’ Says Dhami
Dhami said the increase in beneficiaries was more than a numerical change.
He described it as evidence that the benefits of the central government’s farmer welfare programme were reaching more eligible people across Uttarakhand.
His description of the growth as proof of confidence in the “double-engine government” represents his political assessment of the scheme’s reach.
Around Four Lakh Farmers Benefited in 2019
According to Dhami, approximately four lakh farmers in Uttarakhand were receiving PM-KISAN assistance when the programme began in 2019.
That figure has since increased to more than eight lakh.
During the release of the 23rd instalment in June 2026, Uttarakhand officials said more than eight lakh farmers in the state received over ₹159 crore.
PM-KISAN Provides ₹6,000 Annually
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi is a central-sector scheme launched in 2019.
Eligible landholding farmer families receive ₹6,000 each year in three equal instalments, with the amount transferred directly to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
The official PM-KISAN portal states that the 24th instalment is scheduled to be released on October 30, 2026.
Dhami Praises Farmers and Soldiers
Addressing the gathering, Dhami also drew a comparison between the contribution of soldiers and farmers to national security and food security.
He said soldiers protect the country’s borders while farmers ensure the availability of food grains through their work in the fields.
Dhami praised farmers for their contribution to agriculture and rural livelihoods, saying their efforts were central to the country’s food security.
Farmer Welfare Remains Key Government Theme
PM-KISAN has become one of the central government’s major direct-benefit-transfer programmes for the agricultural sector.
Government figures show that more than ₹4.27 lakh crore had been distributed through 22 instalments by March 2026.
The latest PM-KISAN Uttarakhand farmers remarks from Dhami come as the Centre prepares to release another instalment of assistance to eligible beneficiaries across India.
