Manoj Jha Says Bihar MLC Results Show Strong Non-NDA Vote
RJD MP Manoj Jha on Friday said the latest Bihar Legislative Council election results showed what he described as an “overwhelming” non-BJP, non-JD(U) vote, arguing that the outcome carried a broader political message for the ruling NDA.
Speaking in Patna, Jha pointed to victories by the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Jan Suraaj Party and Independent candidates while assessing the results beyond the seat tally.
His remarks represent the RJD leader’s political interpretation of the election outcome.
‘Keep an Eye on the Non-NDA Vote,’ Says Jha
Commenting on the Manoj Jha Bihar MLC results, the RJD MP said:
“If you analyse this from an electoral perspective, specifically by looking at the non-NDA vote, it sends a clear message to both the Bihar government and the central government.”
Jha said opposition votes should be assessed collectively rather than only through individual party performance.
He argued that victories by RJD, Jan Suraaj and Independent candidates reflected a wider pattern among voters outside the NDA.
RJD Wins Two Seats After Final Count
The final results in Bihar’s eight Graduate and Teachers’ constituencies produced a fragmented verdict.
After preferential counting concluded, the RJD won two seats, while the BJP also won two. JD(U) and Jan Suraaj secured one seat each, and Independents won the remaining two.
The result changed from earlier tallies after RJD candidate Anil Kumar Jha won the Darbhanga Graduates’ constituency through second-preference vote transfers, defeating BJP candidate Sarvesh Kumar by 450 votes.
RJD Defeats BJP Veteran in Patna Teachers’ Seat
One of the most notable results came from the Patna Teachers’ constituency, where RJD candidate Sanjiv Kumar defeated five-term BJP MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav.
The result was considered a significant gain for the RJD because of Yadav’s long hold over the constituency.
Jha said the RJD had moved from a relatively weak position in previous Council elections to establishing a stronger presence this time.
Jan Suraaj Makes Legislative Council Debut
Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party also entered the Bihar Legislative Council for the first time.
Its candidate Suresh Prasad Rai won the Darbhanga Teachers’ constituency, defeating sitting Congress MLC Madan Mohan Jha.
The result gave Jan Suraaj its first representation in the Upper House and added another non-NDA victory to the overall outcome.
Independents Win Two Seats
Independent candidates also performed strongly, winning two of the eight constituencies.
Jha cited these results while arguing that the combined non-NDA vote deserved closer attention.
However, the distribution of seats among multiple parties and Independents means the results do not by themselves establish how voters would behave in a general or Assembly election.
Jha Says Result Carries Wider Political Message
The RJD MP maintained that the broader pattern of voting was more significant than individual party tallies.
He said the non-NDA vote should be watched closely because, in his view, it reflected a message extending beyond Bihar.
The Manoj Jha Bihar MLC results remarks come after an election that produced gains for the RJD, a debut victory for Jan Suraaj and strong performances by Independents, while the NDA retained a significant presence in the Legislative Council contests.
