PM Modi Praises Sikkim’s Cultural Unity, Pushes Sustainable Development Agenda

PM Narendra Modi, while addressing a vibrant gathering in Gangtok, expressed deep gratitude towards the people of Sikkim and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the state’s growth and development.

“I assure the people of Sikkim that I will leave no stone unturned in repaying the affection and blessings received here,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing a strong emotional connect with the region.

Highlighting Sikkim’s vast potential, he underscored the importance of eco-wellness tourism, stating that the Central Government is actively promoting sustainable tourism initiatives across the country, with Sikkim emerging as a key destination. He noted that the state’s natural beauty and ecological richness position it uniquely in the global tourism landscape.


The Prime Minister also made a special appeal to further strengthen efforts in this sector, aligning with the global shift towards sustainable lifestyles. “Today, the world is speaking of sustainability, and I am proud that the Northeast, especially Sikkim, is becoming a major center for it,” he remarked

Focusing on youth empowerment, he praised the passion and talent of Sikkim’s young population in sports. He assured that the government is working on multiple projects aimed at enhancing sports infrastructure and providing better opportunities for young athletes to excel on national and international platforms.

The event also showcased the rich cultural heritage of Sikkim, leaving a lasting impression on the Prime Minister. He described the experience as “unforgettable,” noting that it reflected the true spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat—a vision of unity in diversity.

“The mesmerizing performances made it feel like the entire nation had come together in one programme,” he added, extending heartfelt compliments to all participants and organizers.

The visit marks another step in strengthening the Centre’s engagement with the Northeast, focusing on sustainable development, youth empowerment, and cultural integration.
