PM Narendra Modi, Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson Elevate India–Sweden Ties to Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India and Sweden have decided to elevate their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership following high-level discussions with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson during his visit to Sweden.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media, PM Modi described the discussions as productive and highlighted the participation of Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden. He also expressed gratitude after receiving greetings and good wishes from Sweden’s King and Queen through the Crown Princess.

The Prime Minister stated that India–Sweden relations are rooted in strong democratic values, the rule of law, and a shared commitment to human-centric development. Recognizing the expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, both leaders agreed to take bilateral ties to a new level by establishing a Strategic Partnership.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in key sectors including trade, defence, innovation, artificial intelligence, climate change, and emerging technologies. The move is expected to further deepen collaboration between the two countries and unlock new opportunities in economic growth, technological advancement, and sustainable development.

India and Sweden have continued to strengthen their partnership over the years through initiatives focused on innovation, clean technologies, investment, and global cooperation, reflecting a shared vision for future growth.
