Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a sharp attack on the ruling All India Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, accusing it of misgovernance and calling on voters to remove it from power in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a public rally in Haldia—considered a stronghold of Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari—Modi alleged that the current administration under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is hindering the state’s progress.

“The country is moving forward on the path of development, but TMC’s ‘nirmam sarkar’ (cruel government) is pulling Bengal backward,” the Prime Minister said. He emphasized that removing the ruling party is crucial to achieving the vision of a “Viksit Bengal.”
The remarks come amid intensifying political campaigns as parties gear up for a high-stakes electoral battle in the state. West Bengal remains a key political battleground, with national and regional parties stepping up their outreach to voters.
