A symbol of engineering excellence and innovation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten, visited the iconic Afsluitdijk Dam — globally recognized for its achievements in water management, flood protection and freshwater storage.

The visit highlighted the Netherlands’ pioneering expertise in managing water resources and showcased potential opportunities for collaboration with India’s ambitious Kalpasar Project in Gujarat. The proposed project aims to create a large freshwater reservoir and dam near the Gulf of Khambhat to strengthen water security and support regional development.

The interaction also underlined the growing scope for deeper India-Netherlands cooperation in climate resilience, advanced water technologies, sustainable infrastructure and environmental innovation. As both nations continue to strengthen strategic ties, the exchange of expertise in water management is expected to play a crucial role in future development initiatives.
