On May 29, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and music master AR Rahman will perform at the Indian Premier League (IPL) concluding ceremony in Ahmedabad.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly confirmed the news to Sportstar on Tuesday, saying that to commemorate India’s 75th anniversary of independence, the Board would also put on a presentation documenting the history of Indian cricket over the previous seven decades.

“We will honour the country’s 75th independence by holding the final in Ahmedabad and remembering the journey of Indian cricket with a spectacular spectacle,” Ganguly stated.

With two qualifiers slated to take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Board is also preparing a small pre-match event, the specifics of which are still being finalised. Former India captains are expected to be invited to the final, according to reports.

The Indian government has launched the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ project to honour the country’s 75th anniversary, which will highlight the country’s magnificent history, culture, and achievements. After two years, the BCCI is holding the whole tournament in India, and the Board want to commemorate the occasion.

The BCCI had requested bidding from event organisations for the closing ceremony a few weeks ago, and after reviewing the presentations from a few agencies, it was agreed to choose Ranveer and Rahman.
