Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi Release Likely Delayed to 2027 Amid Clearance Issues

Salman Khan Maatrubhumi Release Delay has become one of the biggest talking points in Bollywood as the actor's much-awaited military drama reportedly faces uncertainty over its theatrical release. Originally announced as Battle of Galwan before being renamed Maatrubhumi, the film is now said to be dealing with clearance-related hurdles that could postpone its release until 2027.

The patriotic action drama is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes between India and China and has generated significant buzz since its announcement. However, recent reports suggest that ongoing review processes and scheduling challenges may prevent the film from arriving in cinemas this year.

Why Is Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi Facing a Delay?

According to reports, the film has come under scrutiny because of its sensitive geopolitical subject matter. Since Maatrubhumi directly references the India-China border conflict, it has reportedly drawn attention from the Ministry of Defence following recent diplomatic developments between the two countries.

The reported concerns relate to the film's portrayal of China and its depiction of real-life events surrounding the Galwan Valley clashes. As a result, the project is still awaiting necessary clearances before it can move forward with a theatrical release.

Although the makers are reportedly exploring ways to resolve these issues as quickly as possible, the approval process has delayed final release planning.

2026 Release Window Becoming Difficult

Even if the pending issues are resolved soon, industry insiders believe that finding a suitable theatrical release date will be challenging.

A source quoted by Bollywood Hungama stated that most of the major festive release windows have already been occupied by other big-budget films.

The source explained that Dussehra, which falls on October 20, would have provided an ideal extended holiday weekend for Maatrubhumi, making it a commercially attractive release period.

However, with several major releases already scheduled around the festive season, securing a prime slot has become increasingly difficult.

Competition From Other Big Releases

The report also notes that Ramayana is expected to arrive around October 30, further tightening the release calendar.

Although there is reportedly a relatively open window until the final week of November, uncertainty surrounding the film's approval process means the producers may not be able to take advantage of it.

If the clearance process continues beyond the expected timeline, the film could ultimately shift its theatrical release to 2027.

No Official Confirmation Yet

Despite widespread speculation, neither Salman Khan nor the makers of Maatrubhumi have officially confirmed a release postponement.

For now, the reported 2027 release remains speculative, with the production team continuing efforts to secure the necessary approvals and identify the best possible release date.

Fans remain hopeful that the film will overcome the current hurdles and make its way to theatres soon.
