Scindia Highlights Global Demand for Tripura Pineapples, Shares Germany Anecdote on Northeast Exports
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted the growing global recognition of India’s agricultural produce, particularly pineapples from Tripura and the Northeast region, during a recent interaction.
Recalling his visit to Germany, Scindia shared an interesting conversation with the German Agriculture Minister. He said the minister praised the quality of Indian pineapples ("Ananas"), prompting Scindia to ask whether he had visited India. To his surprise, the German official replied that he had never been to India but was familiar with the fruit because pineapples from Tripura and the Northeastern states were already being exported to Germany.
Scindia’s remarks underline the increasing international footprint of agricultural products from India’s Northeast, a region that has been gaining attention for its unique produce and export potential. The anecdote also reflects the expanding reach of Indian farmers and the government's focus on strengthening agricultural exports and promoting regional products on the global stage.
The statement comes amid continued efforts to boost exports from the Northeast and position the region as a key contributor to India’s agricultural economy.
