Suvendu Adhikari: Group D Jobs for Durga Puja Victims’ Families, New SSC Rules
The state government has approved permanent Group D jobs for one member of each family affected by a tragic incident during Durga Puja celebrations. Minister Suvendu Adhikari also announced proposed restrictions on political participation by newly recruited teachers and commented on allegations involving former minister Indranil Sen and Mamata Banerjee.
The West Bengal Cabinet has decided to provide a permanent Group D government job to one member of every family affected by the tragic incident that occurred during Durga Puja celebrations. Announcing the decision, state minister Suvendu Adhikari said the move aims to provide support to the affected families.
In another significant decision, the Cabinet approved an amendment to the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment rules to prevent teachers recruited in the future from directly participating in politics. Adhikari clarified that the proposed restriction would apply only to future recruits and would not affect teachers already involved in political activities.
The minister also made allegations concerning a reported transfer of ₹30 lakh from former West Bengal minister Indranil Sen’s account to Mamata Banerjee’s personal account. He further alleged that Sen had accumulated substantial assets during previous administrations and built a farmhouse in Hooghly under the Trinamool Congress government.
Adhikari said the allegations should be examined by the investigating officer and maintained that it was not his responsibility to interfere in the investigation. He stated that his responsibility was to ensure police action against individuals where evidence warranted it. The allegations regarding the financial transfer and assets have not been independently established in the information provided.
The Cabinet’s decisions on employment support for affected families and future teacher recruitment rules are expected to draw attention as the state government moves forward with its administrative and policy agenda.
