WHO Chief Tedros Hails BRICS Leaders’ Health Commitment
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the warm welcome to the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi, praising BRICS leaders for their strong support for the World Health Organization and multilateralism.

In a social media post, Tedros highlighted the health priorities reflected in the BRICS Delhi Summit Declaration, including efforts to advance universal health coverage, resilient health systems and global pandemic preparedness.
He also welcomed the commitment to successfully conclude negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) Annex to the Pandemic Agreement.
The WHO chief further highlighted BRICS’ focus on strengthening global efforts to End TB, expanding and strengthening the health workforce, promoting digital health, integrating traditional medicine, and advancing broader cooperation to address global health challenges.,
Tedros expressed appreciation for the collective support shown by BRICS leaders towards WHO and multilateral cooperation, underscoring the importance of international collaboration in building stronger, more resilient health systems.
