Trump Says Iran “Wants Strait of Hormuz Open,” Claims $500M Daily Loss

Trump claimed that Iran depends heavily on the vital shipping route, stating that keeping the Strait open allows the country to generate approximately $500 million daily. According to him, any talk from Tehran about closing the Strait is merely an attempt to “save face” amid rising tensions.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil transit chokepoints, connecting the Persian Gulf to global markets. Any disruption to this route could have significant economic and geopolitical consequences worldwide.

Trump further alleged that intermediaries had recently approached him, indicating Iran’s willingness to reopen the Strait immediately.
However, he warned that such a move would not lead to a broader agreement unless drastic measures were taken, escalating his rhetoric to suggest extreme military action as a prerequisite for any deal.

The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, raising fresh concerns about stability in the Middle East and the security of global energy supplies.
