Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, said he has formally conveyed his dissent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ongoing CBI Director selection process.
Sharing his views on social media, Rahul Gandhi stated that he could not participate in what he described as a “biased exercise,” asserting that the constitutional role of the Leader of Opposition cannot be reduced to a symbolic endorsement.
“I have written to the Prime Minister recording my dissent from the CBI Director selection process. I cannot abdicate my constitutional duty by participating in a biased exercise. The Leader of Opposition is not a rubber stamp,” Gandhi wrote.

The remarks have intensified the political debate surrounding the appointment process of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director, with opposition parties questioning transparency and institutional independence.
