Anand Dubey Resigns from Shiv Sena UBT, Cites Ideological Differences
Mumbai, Maharashtra: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey announced his resignation from the party, stepping down from both its primary membership and his position as national spokesperson. He cited ideological differences and said he had been experiencing growing discomfort with the party's public positions for several months.
Anand Dubey Announces Resignation
Dubey said he had consistently represented the party's position on issues concerning Maharashtra, national affairs and international developments over the past four to five years.
He added that his decision had not been made overnight and that he had been dealing with his concerns silently for several months.
Hindutva and Sanatan Dharma at the Centre of His Concerns
Explaining his decision, Dubey said he felt unable to express the ideals of Hindutva and Sanatan Dharma that he personally valued.
He identified himself as a follower of the ideals of Veer Savarkar and Swami Vivekananda and named Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as his role models.
Dubey said the positions he was expected to communicate on behalf of the party no longer aligned with his beliefs.
#WATCH | Mumbai, Maharashtra | Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey says, "I am resigning from my party known as Shiv Sena (UBT). I am completely dissociating myself from both my primary membership and the position of national spokesperson. For the past four or five years, I consistently articulated the party's stance on issues ranging from Maharashtra-specific matters to national and even international affairs. So, what changed? Nothing happens overnight. For several months, I had been suffering in silence, feeling deeply distressed... I find myself unable to voice the very ideals of Hindutva and Sanatan Dharma that I hold so dear. Every party has an ideology. I am a party worker who believes in Veer Savarkar and follows the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. I am an activist who looks up to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as my role models. Somehow, the line I am supposed to deliver just doesn't sit right with me...My heroes are not Sharjeel Imam or Umar Khalid; my hero is not Dhruv Rathee. My hero is Smit Machchhar—the man who demonstrated to the entire world, not just India, the immense power of Bajrangbali. Yet, not a single tweet came from our party..."

He criticised the party for not issuing a tweet on the matter he referenced, presenting the perceived lack of a response as another source of his dissatisfaction.
