Andhra Pradesh to Get ₹15,000 Crore Greenfield Shipyard

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has welcomed Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) to the state, announcing plans for a modern greenfield shipyard at Dugarajapatnam with an investment of around ₹15,000 crore over the next five to seven years.

According to Naidu, the project has the potential to generate nearly 45,000 direct and indirect jobs and is expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s maritime ambitions. The Dugarajapatnam cluster is also envisioned as a catalyst for a broader industrial ecosystem spanning shipbuilding, ship repair, marine engineering, manufacturing, logistics and allied sectors.

Naidu said Andhra Pradesh’s long coastline, strategic location and industrial ecosystem position the state to contribute significantly to India’s ambition of becoming one of the world’s top five shipbuilding nations by 2047.

He added that the state government would extend all necessary support to MDL to develop the project into a world-class shipbuilding hub.
