Annapurna Bhandar Scheme: ₹3,000 Financial Assistance to Start From August 17

The Annapurna Bhandar Scheme will begin disbursing financial assistance to eligible women beneficiaries in West Bengal from August 17, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Thursday. The state government clarified that only verified applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will receive the first installment of ₹3,000 this month.

The announcement comes after weeks of anticipation among applicants, as no payments for August had been released so far. The government said the delay was due to the large-scale verification process currently underway to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive financial assistance.

Verification Process Nears Completion

Addressing a press conference at Nabanna, the Chief Minister said applications under the Annapurna Bhandar Scheme were accepted until July 31, with approximately 2.16 crore applications received across the state.

Officials are currently verifying every application to ensure that applicants meet all eligibility requirements and have submitted accurate information. According to the Chief Minister, the verification exercise is in its final stages.

He further announced that a detailed press briefing would be held on August 10 at 2 PM, along with the concerned department's minister, to explain the complete eligibility criteria and clarify who will receive the benefits.

Who Will Receive the First Payment?

The government has specified that only women who:

Applied for the Annapurna Bhandar Scheme on or before July 10.

Successfully completed the verification process.
Fulfilled all eligibility conditions.

will receive the ₹3,000 financial assistance directly into their bank accounts from August 17.

Applicants who submitted their forms between July 11 and July 31 may have to wait longer, as their verification process is expected to continue beyond August 17.

Eligibility Criteria

The Chief Minister reiterated that the financial assistance will be released strictly according to the BJP government's promised guidelines.

According to the government:

Only verified applicants will receive benefits.
Women aged 25 to 60 years are eligible under the financial scheme

Payments will be transferred directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

The administration emphasized that proper financial procedures and verification standards will be followed before releasing public funds.

Monthly Payments From September

The government also clarified that the August payment schedule is an exception because of the verification process.

Beginning next month, eligible beneficiaries under the Annapurna Bhandar Scheme will receive their financial assistance during the second week of every month, provided they continue to satisfy the scheme's conditions.

The Chief Minister stated that the assistance would continue as long as the current government remains in office.

Government Warns Against Fake Information

The Chief Minister urged beneficiaries not to believe misinformation circulating on social media regarding the Annapurna Bhandar Scheme.

He alleged that certain individuals were deliberately spreading false information about the scheme and warned that legal action would be taken against those found creating or sharing misleading content intended to confuse applicants.

According to the government, authorities are monitoring social media platforms and identifying individuals allegedly responsible for circulating fake posts related to the scheme.

Ensure their bank account details are correct.

Follow only official government announcements regarding payment schedules.

Ignore unverified social media posts claiming to provide updates about the scheme.

The state government maintains that all eligible women whose applications are successfully verified will receive the promised financial assistance in accordance with the scheme's guidelines.
