Asian Games 2026: China Crosses 100 Gold as Japan Holds Second

The 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya reached a major milestone on Day 7, with China becoming the first delegation to cross the 100-gold-medal mark and continuing its commanding position at the top of the standings.

China's historic 100th gold medal came in shooting, where Zhang Liyuan, Han Jiayu and Wang Zifei won the Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team title with a score of 1,773 points.

China added nine gold medals on Day 7, taking its overall tally to 107 gold medals.

Japan Holds Second Position

Host nation Japan continued to occupy second place in the overall standings. Japan had won 31 gold, 49 silver and 49 bronze medals, taking its total medal haul to 129.
With strong performances across several disciplines, the hosts remained firmly among the leading medal-winning nations.

South Korea Maintains Third Place

South Korea held on to third position with 16 gold, 21 silver and 36 bronze medals, for a total of 73 medals.

South Korea also continued to lead the participating delegations in terms of the overall number of bronze medals.

39 Nations Enter the Medal Table

Beyond the leading medal-winning nations, Day 7 highlighted the growing geographical spread of success at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.Athletes from Central, South and Southeast Asia made notable contributions, while 39 participating nations officially entered the medal table, underlining the breadth of competition across the continent.
