Asian Games 2026: Mysuru’s Pranavi Sharath Urs Script History with India’s First-Ever Women’s Golf Gold
Indian golfer Pranavi Sharath Urs scripted a historic chapter in Indian sporting history on Saturday by winning the Gold medal in the Women’s Individual Golf event at the 2026 Asian Games.
At 23, Pranavi became the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games golf gold medal, producing a landmark performance at the Kasugai Country Club East Course.
Her triumph also ended India’s 24-year wait for an Asian Games individual golf gold medal, with the previous individual title coming through Shiv Kapur in 2002.
Pranavi Holds Off Strong International Challenge
Pranavi finished the tournament with a total score of 265, 15-under par, securing the gold medal.
China’s Yin Ruoning and Singapore’s Shannon Tan shared the silver medal after both finished on 266, 14-under par.

(Note: Both Yin Ruoning and Shannon Tan finished tied at 14-under-par, earning joint Silver medals for China and Singapore respectively. No Bronze medal was awarded in the individual event due to the tie for second place.)
India Also Wins Women’s Team Silver
Pranavi’s individual success was accompanied by another podium finish for India in the Women’s Team Golf competition.
The Indian team of Pranavi Sharath Urs, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar combined for a total of 546, 14-under par, earning the Silver medal.
Historic Milestone for Indian Golf
Pranavi’s victory represents a significant milestone for women’s golf in India. Her gold also adds another chapter to India’s growing record at the Asian Games.
With the latest results, India’s overall Asian Games golf medal tally now stands at four gold and five silver medals.
