ATF Prices Hiked 5.46%, Commercial LPG Up Rs 9.50

Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were increased by 5.46 per cent on Tuesday, while commercial LPG prices rose by Rs 9.50 per 19-kg cylinder, following movements in international energy benchmarks.

According to state-owned oil marketing companies, ATF prices for domestic airlines have been increased by Rs 6.28 per litre, taking the price from Rs 115 to Rs 121.28 per litre. The latest increase follows a Rs 5 per litre hike on August 1.

The consecutive ATF price increases are expected to put additional pressure on airline finances, with jet fuel accounting for as much as 40 per cent of operating costs for airlines.

Commercial LPG Prices Rise

The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been raised from Rs 2,738 to Rs 2,747.50, an increase of Rs 9.50.
The market-priced 5-kg LPG cylinder, known as 5-kg FTL, has also become costlier, with its price increasing from Rs 762 to Rs 764.

The latest increase comes after two consecutive monthly reductions. Commercial LPG prices were cut by Rs 192 per 19-kg cylinder on August 1 and by Rs 183.50 on July 1.

Those reductions followed a sharp rise in international energy prices during the West Asia crisis. Between February and June, commercial LPG prices had surged by Rs 1,373 per cylinder, climbing from Rs 1,740.50 to Rs 3,113.50.

Domestic LPG, Petrol and Diesel Prices Unchanged

Prices of domestic LPG cylinders used by households remain unchanged at Rs 942 for a 14.2-kg cylinder.

Domestic LPG rates were last increased by Rs 29 per cylinder on June 7, following a Rs 60 increase in March amid supply disruptions and higher international energy prices.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged after being increased by around Rs 7.50 per litre each in May.

ATF and LPG prices are revised on the first day of every month based on international benchmark prices and foreign exchange movements. Actual retail rates can vary across states because of differences in local taxes, including VAT.
