The Blue Sharks produced one of the tournament's most memorable performances, twice coming from behind against Lionel Messi's Argentina before an unfortunate own goal deep into extra time sealed their elimination in the Round of 32.
Reflecting on the spirited display, Bubista praised his team's resilience and commitment to their footballing philosophy.

"We never failed to stay true to our identity, which is why I'm so proud of what my players did throughout the match," he said.
The 56-year-old coach acknowledged Argentina's quality but believed his players proved they could compete with the very best on football's biggest stage.

"Being able to equalize against Argentina twice after falling behind shows how resilient our team is and how strong our character is," Bubista added.

Following the emotional defeat, Bubista paid tribute to his squad for inspiring their nation and earning global respect during Cape Verde's historic World Cup debut.

"Everyone should thank the players for their tournament because they showed what our small country is about," he said. "Argentina showed why they are world champions, but our team showed how willing they were to play this match."

The Cape Verde coach also highlighted the significance of pushing the defending champions to extra time, insisting very few teams could have achieved what his side did.

"I don't think any other team could have scored two goals against Argentina and taken the match into extra time. That shows the character and quality of our team."
Bubista concluded by saying his team's greatest achievement was not only competing at the FIFA World Cup but also showcasing Cape Verde's footballing identity to the world.

Despite their elimination, Cape Verde leave the tournament with their heads held high after an unforgettable debut campaign, winning admirers worldwide for their fearless approach, determination and unwavering belief against elite opposition.
