Canada-India Trade Deal Targets $70 Billion by 2030
Canada’s Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu has expressed optimism about the ongoing trade negotiations between Canada and India, stating that the proposed agreement could significantly strengthen bilateral economic ties. He said negotiations for the Canada-India Strategic Partnership and Investment Agreement (SIPA) are gaining momentum, with both countries aiming to conclude discussions this year.
Sidhu highlighted the economic potential of the proposed free trade agreement, stating that it could more than double two-way trade between the two countries to over $70 billion by 2030. Describing the anticipated impact as “transformational,” he emphasised that the agreement could open new opportunities for trade, investment and deeper economic cooperation between India and Canada.
