CWG 2026 Day 6 Highlights: Records, Medals & Milestones

Day 6 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 delivered unforgettable performances, historic milestones and record-breaking moments across swimming, athletics, weightlifting, boxing and basketball.

The swimming competition concluded with Australia dominating the pool, finishing atop the medal standings with an outstanding haul of 37 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze medals. However, the biggest headline belonged to South African legend Chad le Clos, whose bronze in the Men's 4x100m Medley Relay earned him his 21st Commonwealth Games medal, making him the most decorated athlete in Games history.

In weightlifting, Malaysia finished as the top nation after Mohamad Syahmi Bin Nor-Ghazali shattered the Commonwealth Games clean and jerk record with 197kg to win the Men's 94kg title. His combined lift of 347kg secured gold ahead of Canada's Alex Bellemarre, while Australia's Oliver Riley Saxton claimed bronze.

The British Virgin Islands celebrated a memorable athletics session as three of their 12-member squad qualified for the 200m semi-finals. Meanwhile, Nigeria's Goodness Nwachukwu produced one of the performances of the Games by setting a world record of 39.66m in the Women's F42-44/F61-64 discus event to win Para Athletics gold.

Scotland's world champion Josh Kerr comfortably advanced to the Men's Mile final and reaffirmed his ambition to win gold on home soil, while compatriot Jake Wightman also booked his place in the final.

In boxing, Mauritius' Merven Clair guaranteed himself the first Commonwealth Games medal of his career by reaching the Men's 70kg semi-finals after defeating Ghana's Precious Akai Nettey. Competing in his fourth and final Commonwealth Games, Clair described the achievement as the reward for years of perseverance.

The 3x3 Basketball competition also produced exciting finishes. England successfully defended the Men's title with a narrow 19-17 victory over Australia, while Australia captured gold in the Men's Wheelchair event. England won the Women's Wheelchair gold medal after defeating Scotland, and Australia's women's team upgraded their Birmingham 2022 bronze to gold with victory over Uganda.
