CWG 2026 Day 8 Highlights: India Shines with Judo Golds

Day 8 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 delivered memorable performances across athletics, cycling and judo, with India celebrating a historic double gold in judo while Grenada's Lindon Victor completed a remarkable hat-trick of Commonwealth decathlon titles.

The biggest moment for India came on the judo mat as Asmita Dey won the country's first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in judo in the Women's -48kg category. Less than 20 minutes later, Harsh Singh added another historic gold by triumphing in the Men's -60kg event, giving India two judo gold medals on the same day. Yamini Mourya also impressed by winning the silver medal in the Women's -57kg final, capping off a memorable day for Indian judo.

In athletics, Grenada's Lindon Victor successfully defended his Commonwealth Games decathlon crown for the third consecutive time. Despite an incorrectly measured discus throw being ruled out, Victor stayed comfortably ahead of Canada's Olympic champion Damian Warner, thanks to season-best performances in the pole vault and javelin.

Australia dominated the track cycling events at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, securing a clean sweep in the Men's 4000m Individual Pursuit. Oliver Bleddyn won gold, while Conor Leahy and James Moriarty claimed silver and bronze respectively.

Scotland's Melanie Woods once again claimed gold in the Women's T54 1500m after the race was re-run following a crash in the original final. Meanwhile, England's Georgia Hunter Bell captured her first major outdoor title by winning the Women's 800m in commanding fashion.

With thrilling performances across multiple disciplines, Day 8 added another exciting chapter to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
