CWG 2026 Opens in Glasgow with Spectacular Ceremony
The 23rd Commonwealth Games officially got underway in Glasgow, Scotland, with a dazzling opening ceremony at the OVO Hydro, marking the return of one of the world's biggest multi-sport events.
King Charles III, accompanied by Queen Camilla, formally declared the Games open before a packed arena, ushering in 11 days of sporting action featuring athletes from 74 nations and territories. The ceremony showcased Scotland's rich culture, music, and history while celebrating the spirit of the Commonwealth.

India enters the Games with high expectations, led by Olympic medallists Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting and Lovlina Borgohain in boxing. The Indian contingent will aim for a strong medal haul across disciplines including athletics, badminton, wrestling, table tennis, hockey, and para sports.
The opening ceremony featured colourful cultural performances, a vibrant athletes' parade, and a celebration of unity, diversity, and sporting excellence. Glasgow, which previously hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2014, once again takes centre stage as it welcomes thousands of athletes, officials, and fans from across the Commonwealth.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will run for 11 days, with medals to be contested across multiple sports, promising thrilling competition and memorable performances.
