BRICS Summit 2026: Ramaphosa Arrives in New Delhi as India-South Africa Ties Strengthen

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa arrives in New Delhi for the 18th BRICS Summit

India warmly welcomed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to New Delhi for the 18th BRICS Summit, strengthening the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the update on social media, stating that President Ramaphosa was received at the airport by Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary.

Jaiswal highlighted the warm and historic ties between India and South Africa, describing the relationship as being anchored in a Strategic Partnership.

He also underlined the shared commitment of India and South Africa, as BRICS partners, to advancing the interests and priorities of the Global South.

The arrival of President Ramaphosa comes as leaders of BRICS member countries gather in New Delhi for the 18th BRICS Summit, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening cooperation among emerging economies and amplifying the voice of the Global South.
