Defence Accounts Department: Rajnath Singh Pushes Conversational AI
Defence Accounts Department is set to explore greater use of artificial intelligence in its complaint redressal system, with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh suggesting the introduction of a comprehensive Conversational AI Ecosystem.
Speaking at the 279th Annual Day celebrations of the Defence Accounts Department at DRDO Bhawan, Rajnath Singh highlighted the department’s progress in cleaning and improving SPARSH data. He said that the next step should focus on automating the complaint redressal mechanism to make the system more efficient and accessible.
Rajnath Singh Calls for Automated Complaint Redressal
The Defence Minister said that the Defence Accounts Department has already achieved a major success in cleaning the SPARSH data. According to him, this progress should now be followed by technological improvements in the way complaints and queries are handled.
Rajnath Singh suggested that the department should work towards automating its complaint redressal system. The objective would be to provide beneficiaries with faster and more convenient access to assistance across multiple communication platforms.
He proposed the creation of a Conversational AI
Ecosystem that could bring different communication channels under one integrated system.
What Is the Proposed Conversational AI Ecosystem?
The proposed system could include several communication channels currently used by citizens and beneficiaries to seek assistance. These include:
Chat-based communication
SMS
Phone calls
Other digital communication channels
By bringing these channels together, the Defence Accounts Department could potentially create a more unified mechanism for handling complaints and responding to queries.
The Defence Minister's suggestion reflects the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in public service delivery. A conversational AI-based system could help automate routine interactions while allowing complaints requiring human intervention to be appropriately escalated.
SPARSH Data Cleaning Highlighted
During the annual day celebrations, Rajnath Singh specifically highlighted the department's achievement in cleaning SPARSH data.
SPARSH, or System for Pension Administration (Raksha), is associated with the digital administration of defence pensions. The platform is designed to provide defence pensioners with digital access to pension-related services.
Improving the quality and accuracy of data is an important part of maintaining an effective digital pension administration system. Rajnath Singh's remarks placed the department's data-cleaning efforts alongside the need for further technological advancement.
