In a sharp escalation of political tensions in Bhawanipur Assembly Constituency, BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, has accused the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) of undermining democratic processes by allegedly misusing law enforcement agencies.

Adhikari, who is also the BJP candidate from Bhawanipur contesting against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, took to social media to state that he has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India.
He alleged that during his peaceful door-to-door campaign in the constituency, plain-clothes personnel linked to Kolkata Police were deployed to shadow him and document details of voters who interacted with him.
According to Adhikari, this was aimed at intimidating citizens and discouraging them from openly engaging in the electoral process.
Describing the situation as “state-sponsored voter intimidation,” he termed it a serious obstruction to free and fair elections. Adhikari further asserted that such tactics would not succeed and expressed confidence that voters in West Bengal would deliver a strong response.
The allegations have further intensified the political contest in Bhawanipur, a high-profile constituency witnessing a direct face-off between Adhikari and Mamata Banerjee.
