DRDO Successfully Test-Fires Indigenous Pralay Missile in Odisha
India's defence research capabilities achieved another significant milestone as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired the indigenously developed Pralay quasi-ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, off the Odisha coast.
The missile was launched from Launch Complex-Three and successfully engaged two simulated targets at a reported distance of approximately 500 kilometres, demonstrating its operational capabilities.
As a precautionary safety measure, authorities evacuated more than 2,500 people from nearby villages ahead of the missile test to ensure public safety.
The Pralay missile is an indigenously developed quasi-ballistic missile capable of carrying different types of warheads. With a reported strike range of up to 500 kilometres, it represents an important advancement in India's indigenous missile development and conventional strike capabilities.
The successful test highlights India's continued progress towards strengthening its defence preparedness and achieving greater self-reliance in advanced military technologies under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
