Fadnavis Meets Prince Rahim Aga Khan in Mumbai

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the development initiatives undertaken by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) across the state, particularly in health, education, tribal development, skill development and climate change mitigation.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan, who is visiting Maharashtra for the first time after assuming the role of the Fifth Aga Khan, met Chief Minister Fadnavis along with his delegation at the Fairmont Hotel in Mumbai.

During the meeting, Fadnavis assured the Aga Khan Development Network of the Maharashtra government's cooperation and support for initiatives aimed at improving the lives of communities across the state.

The Chief Minister highlighted the positive impact of AKDN projects in drought-prone regions and emphasized the need to expand such initiatives. He also encouraged greater collaboration on increasing green cover and promoting environmentally sustainable projects in response to the challenges posed by climate change.

The discussions also covered healthcare initiatives, including children's hospitals, geriatric hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and health training and research facilities. Fadnavis welcomed a proposal to provide specialized training for geriatric doctors.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan thanked Chief Minister Fadnavis for creating opportunities for collaboration with the Maharashtra government. He said the Aga Khan Development Network is prepared to expand its work in healthcare, environmental protection, skill development and social development through partnerships with the state government.

Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, MLA Amin Patel, Additional Chief Secretary Lokesh Chandra, Chief Protocol Officer and Secretary Dr. Rajesh Gavande were also present at the meeting.
