Ramaphosa Praises India for Successful BRICS Summit
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa praised India for successfully hosting the 18th BRICS Summit 2026, highlighting the country’s efforts in coordinating hundreds of meetings across multiple cities.
Speaking at the summit, Ramaphosa said BRICS members were able to adopt a declaration despite expectations that reaching an agreement could prove difficult.
“We were able to adopt a declaration when many thought that we would not succeed in adopting a declaration. We did,” Ramaphosa said.
He congratulated all BRICS members and extended special appreciation to India for hosting what he described as a “very successful BRICS Summit.”
Ramaphosa also praised India’s organisation and leadership, noting that around 350 meetings were conducted across 30 cities as part of the summit preparations and activities.
He said coordinating such a large-scale programme was a significant achievement for any country hosting a major international summit.
