India–Austria Relations Get Major Boost: Modi, Stocker Focus on Trade, Tech & Security

India and Austria took a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral ties as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held comprehensive discussions with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker in the national capital. The high-level talks covered the full spectrum of the India–Austria relationship, reaffirming both nations’ commitment to further deepening the Enhanced India–Austria Partnership. Key areas of discussion included trade and investment, technology and innovation, green and clean technologies, education, cultural exchanges, mobility, and people-to-people ties, along with cooperation in multilateral platforms. Notably, both leaders identified high-technology collaboration as a central pillar of future engagement. In a strong and unified message, India and Austria reiterated their firm commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism. The leaders also emphasized the transformative potential of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, noting that its implementation would unlock significant opportunities in trade, manufacturing, investment, and job creation, particularly benefiting the youth. In addition to bilateral discussions, both sides exchanged views on pressing regional and global developments, underlining the importance of coordinated global responses. The visit culminated in the conclusion of 15 key outcomes, spanning sectors such as defence cooperation, emerging technologies, trade, innovation, skills development, and counter-terrorism, marking a major milestone in India–Austria relations.
